Job Title: Small Business Credit Analyst II

Job Type: 6-Month Contract (Potential for Extension)
Location: Remote (California Residents Only)
Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Pay Rate: $40-45/hr

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Small Business Credit Analysts to join a leading financial services organization. In this role, you will review, analyze, and evaluate complex small business credit applications through a digital lending platform. You will apply sound judgment to approve, modify, or deny credit requests in alignment with company underwriting guidelines and risk philosophy.

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities, along with a deep understanding of small business lending practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and evaluate small business credit applications, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal policies.
  • Apply underwriting procedures and fraud detection techniques to make informed credit decisions.
  • Communicate directly with applicants throughout the review and decision process.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present reports to management as needed.
  • Mentor and support junior credit analysts, providing guidance on underwriting and decision-making.
  • Assist in updating lending policies, training materials, and procedural documentation.
  • Support lending system upgrades and recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of relevant federal and state lending regulations.


Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree required; additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in small business lending within a judgmental underwriting environment where LOS is used as a guide to make decisions.


Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of credit analysis, small business loan underwriting, and financial documentation (e.g., tax returns, paystubs).
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and make sound credit decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Proficiency in loan origination systems (LOS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of regional market conditions and collateral valuation.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.


Additional Information

  • Must be able to work weekends and occasional evening hours as required.
  • Remote within California - Some travel may be necessary.
