Job Summary
Director of North America Distribution
The Director of North America Distribution is a senior operations leadership role responsible for the performance, execution, and continuous improvement of a multi-site distribution network. This leader drives service excellence, operational efficiency, and cost discipline while supporting manufacturing operations, customer fulfillment, and commercial growth.
This position partners closely with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Supply Chain Planning, Procurement, Finance, and Commercial leadership to ensure a safe, scalable, and high-performing distribution network aligned with business objectives.
Location & Scope
Remote role with approximately 50% travel. Oversight of a North American distribution network spanning the United States, Canada, and Mexico, encompassing 9 distribution centers and a workforce of 550+ employees.

Base salary range: $185,000 - $215,000, plus 20% annual bonus opportunity

Responsibilities
Distribution Operations Leadership
•
Lead daily operations across the North American distribution network to achieve targets in service, cost, safety, and productivity
•
Ensure standardized execution of processes, policies, and operating procedures across all facilities
•
Drive operational consistency, responsiveness, and continuous improvement
Performance Management
•
Oversee both company-operated and third-party logistics (3PL) facilities
•
Establish and enforce performance standards across safety, service, inventory, and cost metrics
•
Conduct regular performance reviews and implement corrective actions as needed
Financial & Productivity Management
•
Own and manage the regional distribution budget
•
Deliver year-over-year productivity improvements while maintaining service and quality
•
Identify and execute cost optimization initiatives
•
Support capital investments in automation, equipment, and facility upgrades
Workforce Strategy & Leadership
•
Lead labor planning, staffing strategies, and workforce optimization across sites
•
Partner with HR to drive hiring, retention, engagement, and performance management
•
Lead within both union and non-union environments as applicable
•
Develop leadership capability across site and regional teams
Inventory & Material Flow Execution
•
Ensure strong inventory management practices including cycle counting, slotting, and material flow
•
Partner with Planning and Manufacturing to meet inventory and service targets
Continuous Improvement & Standardization
•
Champion lean principles and continuous improvement initiatives
•
Drive adoption of standard work, visual management, and performance routines
•
Benchmark performance and scale best practices across the network
3PL Management
•
Manage operational performance of third-party logistics providers
•
Ensure compliance with contracts, SLAs, KPIs, and safety standards
•
Lead regular business reviews and improvement initiatives with partners
Systems & Data Enablement
•
Drive effective use of warehouse management systems (WMS) and related technologies
•
Leverage data and dashboards to enable performance visibility and decision-making
•
Support system enhancements and process optimization
Safety & Compliance
•
Promote a safety-first culture across all operations
•
Ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental standards
•
Support business continuity and risk mitigation planning
Leadership & Organizational Development
•
Lead, coach, and develop a team of regional and site leaders
•
Establish clear roles, expectations, and succession plans
•
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Leadership Scope

Directly leads 8+ leaders across the network

Provides strategic direction through senior managers and site leadership teams

Qualifications Seeking:
•
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field
•
12+ years of progressive experience in distribution or fulfillment operations
•
5+ years leading multi-site distribution networks
•
Strong background in industrial or manufacturing environments
•
Proven ability to lead large, complex operations
Preferred
•
MBA or advanced degree in Supply Chain or related discipline
•
Experience with warehouse automation and systems implementation
•
Strong 3PL management experience
•
Experience in both union and non-union environments
